Architectural Drafter - U.S. Wood-Framing & Structural Drafting

RemoteFull-TimeAgreed working hours with the internal team

This is a hands-on drafting role for U.S. wood-framed residential buildings, not a conceptual design or 3D visualization role. You will turn hand sketches, redlines and written instructions into accurate CAD drawings, and prepare floor, wall and roof framing plans, foundation plans, floor plans and exterior elevations for single-family and multifamily homes. Hands-on experience drafting U.S. wood-framed residential buildings is mandatory. If your background is limited to steel, reinforced concrete, civil or general CAD drafting without wood framing, this role is not a fit.

Remote, full-time architectural drafter based in India or the Philippines: prepare wood-framing plans, foundation plans, floor plans and elevations for U.S. single-family and multifamily residential buildings, converting sketches and redlines into accurate CAD drawings.

About this role

This is a full-time, remote role based in India or the Philippines for an architectural drafter with demonstrated hands-on experience in U.S. wood-framed residential construction. It is an execution-focused drafting role within an architectural design and construction documentation team: you will convert hand-drawn sketches, redlines and written instructions into accurate, well-organized CAD drawings, covering architectural floor plans, exterior elevations, wood-framing plans, foundation drawings and related construction documentation. It is not a conceptual design or 3D visualization role; the priority is technically precise drawings that support project execution and permitting. The most critical responsibility is preparing wood-framing plans for U.S. single-family homes and multifamily developments, so you must understand conventional U.S. wood-frame construction, lumber specifications, framing member types and how framing interacts with foundations, openings and roof structures. You will work directly with the internal team, coordinate architectural, structural and MEP information across complete drawing sets, follow established drafting standards and templates, and manage revisions accurately and promptly during agreed working hours. Shortlisted candidates provide a portfolio of relevant work samples and complete a 2 to 3 hour practical CAD drafting assessment.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare floor, wall and roof framing plans for U.S. wood-framed residential buildings
  • Prepare and coordinate foundation plans
  • Draft architectural floor plans and exterior elevations
  • Convert hand sketches, redlines, markups and written instructions into accurate CAD drawings
  • Produce construction documentation for single-family and multifamily residential buildings
  • Coordinate architectural, structural and MEP information to keep complete drawing sets consistent
  • Follow established drafting standards, templates and layer structures
  • Maintain dimensional accuracy and run quality control on every drawing before it is issued
  • Manage revisions accurately and promptly
  • Communicate progress, delays and technical questions proactively to the internal team

  • AutoCAD or an equivalent CAD drafting platform
  • Dimensional accuracy, drawing coordination and quality control
  • Ability to follow established drafting standards, templates and layer structures
  • Demonstrated track record as an Architectural Drafter, Architectural CAD Drafter, Residential Drafter or similar construction documentation specialist with verifiable U.S. wood-frame project exposure
  • Willingness to complete a 2 to 3 hour practical CAD drafting assessment

Nice to have

  • Experience on New York State or surrounding-region residential construction projects
  • Familiarity with U.S. building-code documentation and residential permitting drawing sets
  • MEP diagram preparation or coordination
  • Experience with light commercial construction projects
  • Knowledge of U.S. lumber types, wood-framing specifications and region-specific materials
