About this role
An experienced plan review specialist with strong New York State building code expertise. You will review construction plan sets returned by municipalities, analyze and resolve plan review comments, update drawings for permit resubmission, and ensure compliance with New York State and local jurisdiction requirements. This role suits someone who can independently interpret code requirements and make accurate revisions with minimal supervision.
What you’ll do
- Review construction plan sets returned by town and city authorities.
- Analyze and resolve municipal plan review comments, including extensive review reports.
- Interpret and apply New York State building codes and local jurisdiction requirements.
- Update construction drawings and prepare complete permit resubmission packages.
- Support structural drafting and construction drawing revisions.
- Coordinate revisions across multiple disciplines within complete building permit sets.
- Work with internal design teams to resolve code-related issues.
What we’re looking for
- Strong experience with New York State Building Codes.
- Experience reviewing and responding to town and city plan review comments.
- Ability to independently interpret and resolve building code compliance issues.
- Experience reviewing and updating complete construction plan sets.
- Strong background in structural drafting and construction documentation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and construction drawing revisions.
- Strong written and verbal English communication.
Nice to have
- Experience with Spring Valley, Rockland County, or similar New York county permitting processes.
- Familiarity with local municipal permitting workflows and building department requirements.
- Ability to understand the intent behind municipal review comments rather than making drafting changes alone.
- Experience coordinating revisions across architectural, structural and related disciplines.
- Experience on U.S. residential and commercial construction projects.
