About this role
Most days you would be designing, not drafting. You would take existing site conditions, survey and topographic data, architectural requirements and zoning documents, and drive them to a complete civil site plan set in Autodesk Civil 3D, ready for review and stamping by a local U.S. professional engineer. That means developing grading plans with proposed grades, contours, slopes and drainage patterns; designing retaining walls, parking areas, driveways, road improvements and site circulation; laying out stormwater, sewer and water systems; and preparing plan profiles, sections and civil details. You would also interpret zoning documents, prepare bulk tables and compliance summaries, and build reusable civil detail libraries and drawing standards. The seat exists to establish in-house civil site-plan capability, so you would work independently with minimal supervision and coordinate with architects, surveyors and structural engineers. A U.S. PE license is not required.
