About this role
You will run a Canadian customs clearance operation and lead the team that does the work — reviewing and approving filings, resolving CBSA tariff and HS/HTS classification questions, approving shipments before release, and holding the team accountable for quality and throughput. This is a leadership role that requires both deep hands-on Canadian customs clearance experience and prior direct experience managing a team. Remote, full-time during U.S. business hours.
What you’ll do
- Review and approve the team's customs filings before shipment release.
- Own CBSA tariff and HS/HTS classification decisions on new products.
- Resolve CBSA disputes, adjustments, and plan-check-style deficiencies.
- Assign and prioritize daily work and keep clearance quality high.
- Coach, train, and hold a customs team accountable without a manager stepping in.
What we’re looking for
- Deep hands-on Canadian customs clearance experience (CBSA tariff, HS/HTS classification, filing review and approval).
- Prior experience directly managing a team.
- Confident written English for filing review and team communication.
- Availability full-time during U.S. business hours.
Nice to have
- Experience with customs platforms such as Candata, CustomsCity, Descartes, SAP GTS, or Kewill/BluJay.
- CARM, valuation, origin/CUSMA, OGD/PGA, or duty drawback depth.
- Experience across air, ocean, truck, and parcel/courier shipments.
