Door Project Manager

RemoteFull-TimeU.S. business hours

This is a door industry role, not a general construction project management role. You will manage house account door projects from the initial quote through to completion, but the core of the job is technical: reviewing the door and hardware specifications that customers and designers send you, and catching what is wrong with them before anything reaches manufacturing. That means knowing whether the hardware suits the door weight, whether the machining makes sense, and whether the configuration can actually be built and installed as drawn. Hinges, closers, locks, frames, machining, fire rated assemblies - you need to know how these interact in the real world, not just how to track them. You will be technically vetted on exactly this in a real world scenario interview. If your background is construction project management without deep hands on door and hardware experience behind it, this role is likely not a fit.

Own house account door projects from quote to completion for a door manufacturer - reviewing specifications, catching hardware and machining errors before manufacturing, and coordinating customers, designers, manufacturers and suppliers.

About this role

This is a door industry role first and a project management role second. You will manage house account projects for a door manufacturer and supplier, from the initial quote through to completion, coordinating internal teams, customers, designers, manufacturers and suppliers along the way. What makes it technical rather than administrative is the review work. Customers and designers send in specifications, and a large part of this job is reading them critically: is the hardware appropriate for the door weight, does the machining make sense, can this configuration actually be built and installed as drawn. Catching a problem at that stage costs a phone call. Missing it costs a manufacturing run. You will also handle high volume quoting, accurate order processing, sourcing from suppliers and manufacturers, and rigorous tracking across several live projects at once. And you will act as the technical advisor in the room: explaining limitations, recommending alternatives, and asking the right questions when a specification is incomplete or contradictory, to technical and non technical people alike.

What you’ll do

  • Manage house account door and hardware projects from initial quote through to completion
  • Review customer and designer specifications for accuracy, compatibility and buildability
  • Identify errors, incompatibilities and impractical configurations before they reach manufacturing
  • Source doors and hardware from suppliers and manufacturers
  • Handle high volume quoting and accurate order processing
  • Track multiple live projects rigorously and follow up until they close
  • Coordinate across internal teams, customers, designers, manufacturers and suppliers
  • Act as technical advisor - explain limitations, recommend alternatives, and ask the right questions when a specification is incomplete or contradictory

What we’re looking for

  • Deep hands-on experience in the door industry
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and residential doors and related hardware
  • Practical understanding of door specifications and construction
  • Door hardware compatibility knowledge - hinges, closers, locks, frames and machining
  • Experience with door quoting and order processing
  • End-to-end door project management, from quote through completion
  • Ability to review specifications and identify errors, incompatibilities or impractical configurations
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Confident communication with customers, designers, manufacturers and suppliers

Nice to have

  • Experience with custom or specialty doors
  • Experience reviewing architectural and design specifications
  • Knowledge of door machining requirements
  • Experience coordinating with door and hardware manufacturers
  • Experience with house accounts or small-batch and high-volume orders
  • Experience with CAD or door-related technical drawings
  • Familiarity with door hardware manufacturers and product specifications
