AI Search Visibility Specialist (GEO + AIO)

RemoteFull-TimeWorking hours must overlap US Eastern

GEO here means Generative Engine Optimization — not geographic or local SEO. This role requires demonstrated, measured results getting a brand cited by AI: a before number, a denominator, and a method you can defend. This is a hands-on role — you will be changing pages and securing placements yourself. The written application is long by design (~1,700 words). If you have done this work, it will be easy to be specific.

Make F5 the company AI assistants name when a US business owner asks how to hire full-time remote staff.

About this role

More of our buyers now start with an AI assistant instead of a search box. They ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google how to hire remote staff, and they act on the handful of companies that come back. Being absent from those answers is the growth problem we are hiring you to solve. We are not starting from zero: we run a 100-prompt tracking panel twice daily across the major AI platforms, so we know roughly where we stand on the assistant side. On Google's generative surfaces we have no measurement at all yet - you would establish that baseline. And the panel itself was inherited rather than designed; whether it reflects how our buyers actually ask is an open question we would like you to answer. This work currently sits with someone who also owns our websites, social, email marketing, and two internal platforms. It needs a dedicated owner. This is not a fit for local or geographic SEO specialists, paid search specialists, or anyone who directs execution rather than doing it.

What you’ll do

  • Assistant citations (GEO) across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini - getting F5 into the sources these systems retrieve from: aggregators, review platforms, communities, and earned mentions in publications. Most of this happens off our own website, and you will be doing the outreach and the posting yourself.
  • Google's generative surfaces (AIO) - AI Overviews and AI Mode. Different index, different mechanics: query fan-out, passage-level retrieval, and citations that don't track classic rankings. You will establish our first baseline here.
  • On-site AI retrieval optimization - restructuring pages into self-contained answer passages, fixing heading architecture, clarifying entities, reworking internal links, and adding structured data where it helps, while knowing the situations where schema won't move anything and something else is the real problem.
  • Technical retrieval access - crawler access, robots and WAF configuration, indexability, snippet controls, and what Search Console will and won't tell you. Audited early, not assumed.
  • The prompt universe - deciding what we should be measuring in the first place: commercial queries, comparisons, problem queries, follow-ups, the different words different buyers use, and how Google breaks one question into several.
  • Measurement and experimentation - a system that stores what was asked, on which platform, what came back, who was cited, where we placed, and how it moves, then controlled experiments against it, because 'we did six things and the number went up' is not a finding.
  • A weekly report to the CEO with the number, what moved it, and what you need from us.

What we’re looking for

  • Hands-on execution - you have personally changed pages, secured third-party mentions and placements, and participated in communities, and can describe what you actually did (which account, how long it took, what went live) rather than what you advised
  • Measured before-and-after results on at least one AI surface, with the denominator
  • The ability to look at a page and say specifically what to change and why, at the paragraph level
  • Off-site placement experience with real platforms and real timelines behind it, including the ability to get a brand added to a source that currently only cites competitors
  • Working knowledge of how retrieval differs between assistants and Google's generative features - and honest clarity about where classic SEO still applies and where it stops
  • Instrumentation instinct - if the commercial trackers frustrated you enough that you built your own, we want to see it
  • Rigour about causation - we'd rather hear 'I can't prove which change did it, and here's how I'd find out' than a confident story
  • Judgment about risk that goes past legal-versus-illegal - platform risk, brand risk, and whether a tactic can be undone
  • Working hours must overlap US Eastern

Nice to have

  • Server-side log analysis of AI crawler traffic
  • Hands-on time with the commercial AI-visibility trackers and a clear view of where they fall short
  • Comfort writing small scripts to collect, store and chart your own observations
  • Experience running controlled on-site experiments with a holdout or staggered rollout
