About this role
An experienced electrical estimator for U.S. multifamily residential construction. This role goes well beyond a traditional quantity takeoff. Electrical plans are often missing or incomplete, so you will derive the electrical scope directly from architectural drawings, applying the National Electrical Code to determine required devices, circuits, and components. You will build structured Excel-based takeoffs for projects ranging from roughly 20 to 100 residential units, working remotely on U.S. business hours.
What you’ll do
- Prepare detailed high-voltage electrical quantity takeoffs for multifamily residential construction projects.
- Interpret architectural drawings to determine electrical scope when electrical plans are unavailable or incomplete.
- Review architectural, mechanical, plumbing, sprinkler, and other construction documents to identify electrical requirements.
- Apply electrical code knowledge to determine required devices, circuits, and electrical components.
- Prepare detailed Excel-based estimating worksheets using an established format and methodology.
- Organize takeoffs by service area, including public spaces, cellar, first floor, roof, outdoor areas, and apartment units.
- Group apartment units by floor plan or apartment type and accurately itemize electrical quantities by room.
- Count and quantify electrical components including switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, GFCI receptacles, and dedicated circuits.
- Maintain consistent terminology and organized documentation throughout every estimate.
- Produce accurate, review-ready estimates with minimal supervision after onboarding.
- Participate in periodic review meetings and incorporate feedback into future estimates.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience as a High-Voltage Electrical Estimator.
- Experience preparing electrical takeoffs for multifamily residential construction projects.
- Ability to estimate electrical scope directly from architectural drawings, even when electrical plans are unavailable.
- Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and its practical application during estimating.
- Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to work within structured estimating templates.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to organize large quantities of estimating information in a structured format.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently after initial training.
- Availability to work full-time during U.S. business hours.
Nice to have
- Experience estimating multifamily apartment buildings ranging from approximately 20 to 100 residential units.
- Previous experience working with U.S.-based electrical contractors or construction companies.
- Experience interpreting multiple construction disciplines, including architectural, plumbing, HVAC, and sprinkler plans to support electrical estimating.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to a client-specific estimating methodology and Excel format.
