Before you apply: this role works 8:30 AM–5:00 PM U.S. Eastern — an overnight shift in India and the Philippines. You must be proficient in AutoCAD, able to prepare mechanical, plumbing and fire protection drawings, and able to perform HVAC, plumbing and gas piping calculations yourself. You will upload 2–3 AutoCAD drawing samples. Clear spoken and written English is required.

About this role

This is a hybrid drafting and design role. You will prepare mechanical, plumbing and fire protection drawings in AutoCAD and perform the engineering calculations that support them, working closely with the firm's engineers to turn field surveys, markups and design calculations into complete, coordinated drawing sets ready for filing. The firm serves commercial, multi-family and hospitality clients. You get a full-time, long-term position, job-specific training on the firm's projects, and a growing team.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare mechanical, plumbing and fire protection drawings in AutoCAD: floor plans, riser diagrams, details and schedules.
  • Build existing-conditions plans from field surveys, sketches, photos and engineer markups.
  • Run the engineering calculations behind the drawings: heating and cooling loads, duct sizing, pipe sizing, gas pipe sizing and plumbing fixture units.
  • Lay out and size ductwork and piping from the calculation results.
  • Prepare equipment schedules and coordinate them with manufacturer submittals.
  • Revise drawings from comments by engineers, plan examiners and peer reviewers.
  • Coordinate with architectural backgrounds and other trades.
  • Keep layers, title blocks and sheets to the firm's CAD standards.
  • Prepare complete drawing sets for building department filings, and keep project records organized.
  • Update drawings during construction in response to submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs).

What we’re looking for

  • Clear spoken and written English. This is a must.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD. Revit is a plus.
  • A degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Drafting or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 0–5 years of MEP drafting and design experience.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and gas piping design calculations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • U.S. Eastern business hours, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM ET, with full overlap with the team. This is a night shift in India and the Philippines: 6:00 PM–2:30 AM IST (7:00 PM–3:30 AM from November 1) and 8:30 PM–5:00 AM Manila (9:30 PM–6:00 AM from November 1). You must confirm you can work it.
