About this role
This is a hands-on remote role with two halves: CAD drafting and permit expediting for U.S. residential reconstruction work - repairs to existing homes after fire, flood, or tree damage, not new construction. You will take not-to-scale 3D scan exports from DocuSketch or Matterport (which carry measurements) and convert them into to-scale, permit-ready CAD packages, then own the permit from submission through approval across roughly 40 mid-Atlantic counties, cities, and municipalities. That means researching each jurisdiction, working its portals, coordinating third-party reports (engineer, damage, and site-plan reports), and handling plan-review corrections, largely without hand-holding. Phone communication in clear English with U.S. municipal offices is a core part of the job, on U.S. Eastern hours. Regular use of AI tools in your daily work is expected. Anyone who has never produced construction drawings in CAD is not a fit.
What you’ll do

- Read and create residential construction drawings in CAD (AutoCAD or comparable)

- Handle plan-review corrections and resubmittals
- Speak with U.S. municipal offices by phone in clear English to move applications forward

What we’re looking for
- Hands-on CAD drafting experience (AutoCAD or comparable)
- Able to read and create residential construction drawings
- Able to independently turn a not-to-scale scan export and scope into a jurisdiction-compliant CAD permit package
- Able to own the permit process end to end - research, portals, third-party reports, and plan-review corrections - without hand-holding
- Comfortable speaking on the phone in clear English with U.S. municipal offices
- Able to work U.S. Eastern business hours
- Regular use of AI tools in your daily work
- Must have produced construction drawings in CAD - never having done so is not a fit
Nice to have
- Prior hands-on experience with DocuSketch or Matterport scan exports specifically
- Prior permit experience in mid-Atlantic jurisdictions
